Review:
The special and magical sound of a music box is imitated in the opening of this original work. It takes a fast clip, too (quarter = 116-126). Before long marts and plucks and other staccato techniques show up to add to the playfulness of the repetitious melody. A good work out on scale passages ensues. The texture thickens out toward the end of the 62 measures; perhaps the music box has turned into a carillon!
