How Firm a Foundation

Review:      This traditional American melody first appeared in the 1832 tune book, Genuine Church Music, under the tune name "Foundation," but it also is found in The Sacred Harp under the tune "Bellevue." This setting has a primitive sound, particularly in the accompaniment. This is in keeping with the singing "performance practice" of the Sacred Harp Hymn Singing conventions.
