Review:
No duplicate bells are needed to play this original composition by Michael Mazzatenta. A winner of the 2021 Into the Forest Bell Tree Composition Contest, "Gladness and Grace" is written to be played using only one set of bells (3-5 octaves) and one 3 octave set of handchimes. The handbell choir part is well within the reach of level 2 to 3 choirs while the bell tree part is playable for a relatively new bell tree ringer. Comments from adjudicators included: "It pulls me in right away" and "This piece is lovely and accessible for many choirs."
Note: The non-reproducible Bell Tree and Wood Block parts are printed at the end of the score; please purchase an additional copy of the music for the bell tree ringer and the percussionist.
