Review:
"Jesus Shall Reign" is an 18th-century hymn tune (DUKE STREET) composed by John Hatton, who it is said actually lived on Duke Street in Lancashire, England. Karen Buckwalter's new arrangement uses 8 handbells (D5-D6) with piano accompaniment. The chordal handbell part alternates with a single melody line, all supported underneath with a spirited, rhythmic bass in the piano part. Alternate hymn titles include "Give to Our God Immortal Praise" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives". Both handbell and piano parts are included in the folio, which is reproducible by the original purchaser.
Also available in the collection Endless Prayer and Praise ( CGB1213).
