Wind In Our Sails
 Lift your face to the wind, hoist the sails and take an invigorating trip with “Wind in Our Sails,” an original “sea ballad” for 3 or 5 octaves bells or chimes, Level 2: Easy to learn yet powerful in scope. The lovely tune is introduced as a solo line with an optional bell tree or solo C instrument and builds in strength throughout the piece. The score stands alone as a performance piece for handbells, but there is also an optional vocal solo/unison score with a strong and hopeful text perfect for today’s challenges (score is available in hard copy RE8326L for $1 - or as a free digital download from the website). Perfect for graduation, confirmation, commissioning and dedication services, for mission projects and outreach, social justice and restorative services with the theme of helping each other through rough times. It’s also a great teaching piece for 8th note upbeats, dotted quarter/8th patterns, ties and double voicing; a Unison Exercise is included to strategically walk your ringers through these skills. Reminiscent of a timeless folk tune or gentle sea shanty, “Wind in Our Sails” is perfect as a thoughtful and meaningful addition to worship and concert venues, community ensemble performances, festival repertoire and school programs. Scored in C Major with no bell changes, no shared bells and no techniques, “Wind in Our Sails” is ideal for ringing with stands only or at separated tables if needed. Treble ringers may 4iH positions, to accommodate fewer ringers.
