When the Day of Pentecost Came
Brian has created a fresh, exciting new arrangement of the favorite African-American spiritual "Every Time I Feel the Spirit" that will definitely inspire and lift the spirits of everyone! It begins with an optional opening that features singing bell, random suspended mallets, and an ethereal handchime LV passage with hints of the main tune appearing. This 'intro' is designed to be played as the Pentecost scripture is being read and contains a repeated section that can be adapted to the length of the reading. However, groups may elect to begin the piece at measure 10 - or not – since the intro is quite exciting even without the scripture. This piece is sure to immediately engage the listener in either worship or concert setting.
The main tune of the spiritual features the melody on alternate bells, rhythmic malleted bass, perfectly placed LV passages, echoes, handchimes, and hand claps, foot stomps, or mallet clicks as the director chooses. Dynamics add to the anticipation as it rollicks along to an unexpected and very exciting ending with cascading mart-lifts, Shakes, mallet rolls, and even an optional train whistle!
Directors, you will definitely choose to include this amazingly creative arrangement in your group's worship and concert repertoire and we know it will be so much fun to ring!
