Highland Fanfare
This lively original Level 3+ piece evokes a brisk walk in the Celtic highlands. Spanning the full 5 octave range, Highland Fanfare features triplets in a sweeping melody, close chromatic movement and an unusual table damping technique used as a rhythmic element. The middle section calms down a bit with a wistful penny-whistle-type melody and rhythmic mallets in the bass. Perfect as a short (1:30 performance time) Prelude or Postlude (subtitled “Highland Praise”) or as a bright interlude in a concert or advanced Festival. The optional repeat adds another minute to the performance time (2:30).
