It is said that Sicilian sailors sang “O Sanctissima” to this tune. This stately setting is well suited for handchimes as well as handbells and is beautifully crafted for worship. Aside from some dotted-quarter-eighth-note combinations, the rhythms are easy. Full chords give everyone in the choir an opportunity to play. Scored in C Major, this piece is 87 measures.
