On This Day Earth Shall Ring

Review:      The hymn tune PERSONENT HODIE is from the collection of late medieval Latin songs called Piae Cantiones. The opening section is played entirely by mallets on tabled bells. This gives way to a single, alternating, sixteenth-note figure. At this point optional choir chimes enter on the melody. Only 7 chimes are required - they range from G4 to G5. Only 50 measures long, this work is a good challenge for a level II choir.
