Review:
An original Irish-flavored melody serves as introductory and interlude material in this expressive setting of the hymntune ST. COLUMBA, with optional handchimes adding to the rich colors of the arrangement. It will be a frequent choice for worship, concerts and festivals, and will be especially appropriate whenever Psalm 23 is used. The third stanza is set in a bouncy, light-hearted 6/8 meter, as it recalls Henry Baker’s text, “Perverse and foolish oft I strayed.” The final stanza is grand and uplifting, ending strongly with shakes and large, full chords. Arranged in C Major and Bb Major, this piece is 121 measures in length.
