Review:
Combining handbells with optional handchimes, piano, strings and flute, Joel Raney has created the musical equivalent of viewing a nativity scene with childlike wonder. The soothing lullaby moves from Joel’s signature ballad style to a section of whimsical playfulness by use of stopped sounds. Incorporating both the familiar Murray tune along with Kirkpatrick’s “Cradle Song,” handbell choirs will find this musical presentation a charming addition to their Christmas program. 129 measures in length, it is set in F Major and D Major.
