Review:
Veni Emmanuel ("O Come O Come Emmanuel") and Nun Komm der Heiden ("Savior of the Nations Come") are combined in this arrangement for 5-octaves of bells and 2, 3, or 5-octaves of chimes. The work starts mysteriously with a ppp marking and a light texture played entirely by mallets on suspended bells. Running eighth-notes in the following section give the effect of a continuous bell peal. A chordal section ensues with the melody appearing in imitation. Of course, if this is a Carillon it must have a toll swing -the final measures oblige on an E major chord. Set in e minor, measures total 76.
