Review:
Emotionally powerful, Arnold Sherman’s setting of the well-loved Appalachian carol is a glorious choice for throughout the holiday season. An ethereal opening gives way to a verse underscored with flowing and harmonically-rich accompaniment. A key change gives way to a more powerful iteration of the theme before the piece fades away into haunting nothingness. 102 measures. Keys of f minor and e minor.
