This original composition was the winner of the Alberta Guild of English Handbell Ringers Fred Merritt Award for New Compositions 2015, Category C. "Gathering" was performed by the Festival Choir at the International Handbell Symposium held in Vancouver in July, 2016, directed by the composer. This upbeat, rhythmic work is written in 7/8 throughout and features a variety of stopped techniques and echoes artfully placed, supporting a lilting melody and solid bass foundation.
