Review:
Paul Gibson gives us a rousing setting of words by William Austin (1587-1634). the text begins, "All this night shrill chanticleer, Day's proclaiming trumpeter, Claps his wings and loudly cries, Mortals, mortals, wake and rise!" The handbells provide support for the poetic verse and ring occasionally challenging rhythms throughout the 47-measure work. A separate bell score is available (ES7697).
