Review:
Set in the keys of A minor and D minor, God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen begins with alternating measures in 4/4 and 6/8, and features a treble ostinato lending interest to the melody line in the first stanza. Optional parts for bass and drum set add uniqueness and pizzazz. As the piece progresses, a rhythmic bass pattern is introduced using complex jazz chords and a syncopated melody in the treble clef. An accelerated tempo leads ringers into a new key with much dynamic movement. Ringers will enjoy the challenge of ringing this fast-paced and energetic piece. It is 83 measures in length.
