This appealing noel is based on a French carol of historic usage by such composers as Daquin and Balbastre. Rhythms are easy combinations of quarter and eighth notes and accidentals are consistent in the modal scale setting. The use of mallets in the bass lines adds zest throughout. It is 66 measures in length.
