Shepherd's Hey
A song with shepherds that's not about Christmas? Yes! Here is one of Percy Grainger's most famous British folk song arrangements for piano which has been arranged for 3-7 octaves of handbells. The "Shepherd’s Hey" is the name of a particular dance step in the traditional Morris Dance of the British Isles.
This challenging but exciting, jaunty, and fiery arrangement will work very well as an opener or closer to any concert program, and will delight listeners with plenty of chromaticism and handbell techniques. Work it out slowly in the beginning, and gradually work to increase the tempo to an unbelievable frenzy!
