O Come Little Children
This simple and engaging German tune was written in 1790 as a secular song, but was joined with lyrics written by a Catholic priest and published in 1837. Marquise has created this arrangement featuring the sweet melody supported by a gentle syncopated rhythm, flowing LV accompaniment and an optional flute descant part. Handchimes take the melody in places and the addition of the low handchimes grounds the work and balances out the high bells nicely. It has a variety of dynamics that expands to ff – but should still remain gentle in feel and never harsh. This is definitely a ‘must have’ addition to your handbell repertoire! 88 measures in the key of G Major.
