Lone Wild Bird
"Prospect" is given a warm, gentle setting incorporating original material (reminiscent of a bell peal) that establishes an ethereal quality. With the alternate title, "The Hills Are Bare at Bethlehem", the piece may also be used during the Christmas season. Although the instrument in this piece is optional, it is a good piece in which to showcase the clarinet or viola; and it would provide a nice contrast in timbre. Measures total 92, and the instrument parts are printed on the last pages of the score.
