On Christmas Night
Four handbells or chimes (F#5, A5, B5 and D6) ring a solo line along with the keyboard in the interludes of this Christmas anthem based on the English carols "SUSSEX CAROL" and "PUER NOBIS NASCITUR." The meter is 6/8 and the bells ring in dotted quarter note rhythms. A score for bells is included in the choral octavo.
