On a Night Like This
We have all heard the story of the birth of Jesus. The story of the manger, the animals and that lonely star that proclaimed his birth. This piece starts with that single star piecing the remaining light of dusk, shining the way and setting into motion a whole new world. The glorious heavens stretch out like a black velvet cloth dotted with billions of sparkling lights. As the sky grows darker, more stars are heard. The music rings in the birth of the child at the end of the B section. Finally, the night and the music then decrescendo to a lonely phrase of “Silent Night”. 67 measures.
