Shenandoah
This peaceful arrangement of the traditional American folk tune features a flowing eighth note accompaniment evoking the “rolling river,” and subtle harmonic nuances which reinforce the tune’s sense of longing. Jason Krug’s setting builds throughout and rises to a satisfying peak of might and majesty with a key change near the end. Care should be taken to ensure that the melody is never swallowed by the river of the accompaniment. 52 measures in all, this lovely work is scored in C Major and D Major.
