Anyone alive and listening to pop music in the 1960s will remember this delightful instrumental tune written by a Danish musician born Bent Fabricus-Bjerre whose pseudonym is Frank Bjorn! Hart has created a delightful handbell arrangement with the melody mainly rung in the treble clef accompanied by malleted accompaniment in the bass and treble 5's.

Beer Barrel Polka

This catchy polka-style piece was written in 1927 by Czech composer Jaromir Vejvoda, while he worked as a bartender in his father-in-law's pub in Zbraslav, Czechoslovakia. It was an immediate hit and has since become a worldwide favorite. Area I event leaders commissioned Hart Morris to arrange this piece – and dedicated it to The Raleigh Ringers Director David Harris – for their Oktobellfest event, October 2022.

I had written the first nine measures many years ago, modeling them after the opening of Louis Vierne’s Final to his Organ Symphony #1. This is a piece of “absolute” music, meaning there are no lyrics or story attached to it; it exists for its own sake as a piece of pure music. It is composed in the sonata-allegro form.

Danny Lyons writes: Just as Sambello the title is a combination of two words – Samba and handbell - "Sambello" the piece is a combination of two time signatures: 7/8 and 4/4. The piece is not a samba, but that word kept coming to mind because I could envision two dancers working their way through it. The piece is dance music in a way because of the regularity of the change from 7/8 to 4/4; it is something you can count on and can be followed along with dance steps even in 7/8 time.
