Charles Gounod's sweet Christmas carol (sub-titled "Cradled All Lowly") is set here in a gentle 6/8 meter with pulsing, eighth-note accompaniment patterns. 10 chimes in the 2-octave range are scored in a later section in a mid-range melody line. A sweet ending with mallets on suspended bells closes the work. Measures total 61.
