Review:
This familiar Russian folk tune is ideally suited to varied bell sounds, calling for mallets, shakes, mart-lifts, and optional handchimes. The tune begins with straight ringing, with the melody in the high bells, but the middle has the bass-clef bells carrying the melody. Rhythms never get beyond even eighth notes, but the final section starts
slowly and accelerates to a dynamic, dramatic finish. 80 measures in length, it is scored in c minor.
