60 measures of a chromatic bass with "oom-pah" accompaniment introduces the repeating pattern of the Passacaglia. At measure 61 a melody enters on chimes in the treble clef. Later sections add a running, eighth-note pattern along with other layers of sound that builds until the end of its 200 exact measures. Lots of techniques and textures!
