Review:
The French carol, BESANCON, is here set for 3,4 or 5 octaves with some performance notes given to accommodate. The lilting 6/8 tune is set up by an introduction using the interval of a fourth and scale passages. The melody then enters on top in doubled octaves. A springy staccato section follows and then one marked "Calm, dotted-quarter = 52." Tempo I returns with a fully scored, straight forward presentation of the carol.
