Review:
For a small ensemble with a soloist - or a soloist and piano - this thoughtful and lovely arrangement (in 2 range settings) features an easy solo part (8 bells F-F or C-C) for Bell Tree solo, rung solo/duet/4iH duet/ensemble, C instrument or voice – accompanied by a calm arpeggiate pattern playable by 5 (or more) ringers on chimes/bells (C to F or G to C). Individual quintet parts and full ringing (or piano) accompaniment scores are included. Beautiful and simple, Amazing Grace was originally written for the lower range of a 5 oct. chime set C3-F5 (F-F/low/high-range vocal solo) transposable to C4-F6; plus an alternate setting for 3 oct. G4-C7 (C-C/mid-range vocal solo) transposable to G3-C6. One of my ringers signed the entire text; it was lovely! The recording is courtesy of Gloria Dei Ringers, Muhlenberg Lutheran Church, Harrisonburg, Va. (Kath Wissinger, director). This entire score is Reproducible by the original purchaser for their own ringers. Ideal for a quiet moment in worship or concert.
Amazing Grace (5+1) is part of the “Bells Plus a Solo” (RE65BPS), “First String” (RE5) and “little gems” (RE6) series in the ringTrue catalog. Two previously published “BPS” pieces: “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” (RE65BPS02R) and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” (RE65BPS01FCR & RE65BPS01CGR) also allow fewer ringers to present some truly wonderful musical moments. Look for more scores in these categories by entering “RE5,” “RE6,” “RE56” or “RE65” in the Stock # Search box at Handbellworld.com or by clicking on either series at the bottom of the Music Selection Assistant page.
ringTrue also offers additional settings of Amazing Grace – for Bell Tree/4iH duet and piano/harp (RE56851ABR), for trio/quartet/quintet/small ensemble with opt. BellTree (RE56852ABR) and for full 2, 3, 4 or 5 oct. choir with opt. Bell Tree (RE56853AB). These three versions are compatible with each other – but are NOT compatible with RE65BPS03ABR.
