Review:
What a perfect tune to be transcribed for handbells! Written by Frank Loesser for his 1950 musical
Guys and Dolls, this joyful tune quickly became a jazz favorite propelled to the top of the jazz charts
by the
Miles Davis Quintet and it remains a staple among jazz musicians to this day.
The engaging melody and rhythmic swing of this tune are sure to become a favorite in your group's concert repertoire! It is mostly rung by the bells but it includes a delightful 3-4 jazz-waltz middle section rung on handchimes. Malleted bass line, syncopation, accents, rests, and perfectly placed Shakes make this music truly dance! It will be a fun challenge for your advanced ringers and an audience favorite.
