Tin O O

Review:      The original lyric of Tin O O (the dark sky) is a well-known Taiwanese nursery rhyme; the melody of the song is composed in the 60s by Taiwan composer Fu-yu Lin. The song tells a humorous anecdote of a farmer’s family on a rainy day. The husband went out to dig the taro for dinner, but luckily he dug the loach (a freshwater fish). He brought the loach home happily and looked forward to a delicious meal. However, the husband and wife started fighting with each other and eventually broke the pot because the husband preferred a salty flavor, but the wife wanted a much lighter taste. This arrangement is played in a moderate-fast tempo with a rhythmic groove throughout in a folk song style; optional handchimes and a small Chinese Cymbal are added to enrich the layers of the piece. The handchime part can be played by a separate small group or by 2-3 advanced ringers. 114 measures.
