Review:
Even for those unfamiliar with the chorale tune, this piece evokes the mood of the Good Friday events. Compton incorporated three statements of the choral tune: the first with a flowing eighth note accompaniment, the second with an extended use of handchimes, and the third with large block chords. 96 measures. Key of e minor.
