Review:
Ringers and audiences alike will enjoy this exciting new rendition of the classic Shaker tune, “Simple Gifts” by new contributor Brenda Austin. Ringers will enjoy using many techniques and textures to tell the story of Christ’s life, death and resurrection. The third stanza, set in minor, uses chimes to create a haunting sound depicting the mournful death of Christ. The arrangement concludes with Christ’s glorious resurrection in a spirited mallet section. Begins in F Major, then utilizes D Minor before modulating through D Major to end in E Major. 86 measures.
