When Jesus Wept

Review:      William Billings’ canon of “When Jesus Wept” is skillfully arranged for three octaves of handbells. The harmonies are sparse while weaving the motif of the melody in and out of the piece. The canon comes at the end of the arrangement. This is a satisfying rendition and one that can be used in worship or concert settings, especially during the Lenten season. 81 measures in length, it is scored in e minor.
