Review:
The composer of this work writes, "My goal (in writing this piece) was to write a beautiful melody with a simple harmony." This goal is in line with the aim of the Nancy Jessup Handbell Series, of which this piece is a part: an innovative series of handbell literature that explores the simple and straight-forward beauty of the handbell as a musical instrument. Written in D Major, "Blessings" is an expressive, lyrical composition which is played without any special techniques, except LV. 52 measures long, it provides a great opportunity for choirs to work on musical phrasing.
