Review:
Susan Geschke has taken this well-loved Brazilian folk song and produced an exciting musical experience for 3-5 octave handbell choirs. A simple, quiet opening quickly gives way to a driving syncopated rhythm on mallets. A contrasting middle section provides ringers with an opportunity for flowing, legato ringing before returning to the energetic rhythm of the beginning. Not difficult, this Level 2 setting makes it possible for virtually all choirs to add this spirited folk song to their ringing repertoire. Arranged in d minor, measures total 69.
