Review:
In this distinctive arrangement, the simple flowing Chinese melody is introduced with optional chimes, set beneath an ostinato-like pattern on upper bells played with mallets. After a modulation, a second ostinato pattern is introduced, played by optional chimes, while the melody is played as a round on the bells. Both stanzas are supported throughout by a sustained pedal figure in the low bells. The optional flute and chime tree add yet more color to the palette, contributing to the subdued nature of the arrangement.
