For the Beauty of the Earth
A festive setting has been chose by arranger McChesney for the loved hymn tune DIX. The use of handchimes is an option that allows the developing ringers the opportunity to learn the changes necessary in switching from handbells to handchimes. The rhythmic motive found in the opening statement of the melody is used to develop an original melody line. A portion of this melody is later used to introduce the second statement of the hymn. The ending is strong and includes three measure of "vigorous" shaking.
