Watchman Tell Us of the Night
Set a reverent mood during Advent/Christmas season with this ethereal arrangement of “Watchman, Tell Us of the Night” – set for an easy-medium level Bell Tree solo and piano. The Bell Tree range is 17 bells C5-C7 (opt. D7, Eb7) – and this melodic line can also be played by a 4iH trio or a quartet or any number of ringers. There is an option to include an easier “Part 2” on a second 1 oct. Bell Tree or a C instrument (Range - 9 bells C5-C6, opt. B4). This richly harmonized arrangement of the hymn tune ABERYSTWYTH by Joseph Parry (1841-1903) captures the mystery and majesty of the coming Lord. The hymn text “Jesus, Lover of My Soul” is also commonly paired with this tune and may be used as an alternate title for use throughout the church year or in Spring concerts. Perfect as a call to worship for an Advent service or as a quiet moment in a holiday concert. If the solo is rung by a few ringers, remember the inherent sounds of a BellTree, so practice an overlapping, “Let Vibrate” technique throughout! This score is Reproducible by the original purchaser for their own ringers. A free downloadable full piano accompaniment mp3 is available at handbellworld.com. This arrangement is compatible with the full choir 3-5 oct. score (B) from RE8019AB. Part of the “First String” (Bell Tree) and “little gem” (small ensemble) series from ringTrue Handbell Music. Look for more scores in these categories by entering “RE5,” “RE6,” “RE56” or “RE65” in the Stock # Search box at Handbellworld.com or by clicking on either series at the bottom of the Music Selection Assistant page.
