Tritsch Tratsch Polka
This high-spirited Tritsch Tratsch Polka (chit-chat) was written by Strauss in 1858 and perhaps entitled ‘chit-chat’ since the Viennese people of that time apparently had a passion for gossip! Another opinion referred to a burlesque show entitled Der Tritschtratsch which was appearing on stage in Vienna. In any event, Michael created a delightful arrangement for handbells – filled with perfectly-placed stopped sounds (mallets, marts, TD) complete with a variety of dynamics. The quick tempo, grace notes, and multiple key changes will delight the audience and challenge your group. Strauss certainly would have enjoyed this setting! 190 measures. Keys alternate between A Major, E Major, and D Major.
