Common Musical Terms
This short but concise dictionary lists terms in Italian, German, and French and then gives their English meaning. It is divided into six different sections: terms that establish tempo (i.e. adagio or allegro)), terms that modify the established tempo (i.e. accelerando or subito), terms of musical expression (i.e. agitato or cantabile), terms that relate to the form of musical work (i.e. coda or fermata), terms that indicate the style of a performance (i.e. legato or marcato), and dynamic terms (i.e. forte or diminuendo).
