What Child is This
Arranger Cynthia Dobrinski set this traditional English carol in 6/4 meter for easier rhythm reading. Only the LV and mallet on suspended bells articulations are scored in addition to pure rung and damped bell tones. Accessible for 2, 3, or 4-octaves makes this a good one for combined choirs. A particularly effective passage comes from doubled melody in the bass register with gentle eighth-note rhythm patterns in the treble which is then reversed in the next passage. Sixty-four measures.
