Natalie Sleeth's immortal composition "Joy in the Morning" has been set here for 3, 4 or 5 octaves of bells and optional 3 octaves of choirchimes. The bell score stays true to the original using mart lifts for dramatic effect in the introduction while the optional brass or orchestra adds depth to the music. The crescendos and diminuendos are important and mirror the anthem text: "joy, joy, joy, joy, joy." The middle section, where the text reads: "There'll be peace and contentment evermore," is played on chimes and bells using mallets on suspended and tabled bells. A rousing ending finishes off with a ring touch, mart and pluck.
The handbell part can stand alone or be used as accompaniment to the SAB (HPC5140) or the SATB (HPF955) octavo. HPC5140O includes the conductor's score and parts for piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpets, horns, trombones, tuba, percussion, harp, violins, violas, cellos, and basses.
