Gregorian Prelude
Leslie Betteridge has had a most distinguished career as a composer, organist and choir master in England and Bermuda. Now turning to handbell literature he has set an original tune in Gregorian chant style for 3,4 or 5 octaves of bells. The challenge here is the changing meter, some of it written with no bar lines with the directions "in free time". Chromatic movement, triplet figures, thick and open textures all make up this 30 measure reflection on medieval church music.
