Sure Retreat, A
Hugh Stowell's (1799-1865) text begins: From ev'ry stormy wind that blows, from ev'ry swelling tide of woes, There is a calm, a sure retreat; 'Tis found beneath the mercy seat. The handbells are entirely optional and, when used, play only a small part of the accompaniment - 15 measures in all. There is no separate handbell score.
