April Showers
It sometimes seems that the spring has far more rain than showers.
One afternoon, while it was raining, the composer created the framework for this arrangement. The music is centered on the continuous rise and fall of the rain drops as the notes in the treble progress in intensity and tempo. The tempest arrives at its climax in the last third of the piece as thunder and 16th notes combine to drive the raindrops faster and deeper. Like any rain shower, the piece suddenly ends as the last few drops from the clouds add to the mayhem. 70 measures.
