Cold December Flies Away
This energetic arrangement of a traditional Catalonian carol, LO DESEMBRE CONGELAT, employs percussion and mallet techniques to convey the anticipation of the season. Following two statements of the melody in D Major, a slow handchime section in b minor reflects the hymn stanza "In the hopeless time of sin shadows deep had fallen." A modulation to C Major and 6/8 meter bring the setting to a vibrant close. The instrument parts are included in the full score with permission to reproduce. This arrangement is 109 measures.
