Winter Solstice Carol
"Winter Solstice Carol" juxtaposes a contemplative poem about the darkness of winter-and our spirits-with the joyful exuberance of the angel's song at the incarnation. Giles Swayne's poem is sung by a larger choir(Choir 1), while the Latin text is sung by a smaller choir (Choir 2). This contemplative piece draws to a joyful close as the angel's song, "Glory to God in the Highest" is sung, and handbells freely ring in a tower-like effect. Part of the National Lutheran Choir Series, this octavo is 120 measures.
