Review:
This varied arrangement of the hymn tune DIX begins simply, with the melody in the treble bells, and the bass providing a flowing, LV eighth-note accompaniment. The handchimes play the second stanza in a slightly slower tempo, with the tune alternating between the upper and lower treble chimes. The piece’s final portion takes on an almost Celtic feel with a lilting, dancing section in 6/8 time, including malleted bass bells and a variety of techniques in the treble, with an upbeat and joyous ending. It is 134 measures and set in the keys of F Major and C Major.
