Review:
The simple beauty of the traditional Austrian carol is enhanced in this three-section setting. The beginning section is open and airy in feel; the second combines an upper melody with a flowing, eighth-note accompaniment of mostly open 6th intervals. After a key change the tempo slows and the texture thickens, thereby showcasing three opportunities for presenting different musical pictures. Arranged in G Major and Ab Major, this piece is 61 measures.
